This article addresses South Korea's position towards the promotion of democracy and argues that the country should take more active measures to safeguard and disseminate democracy abroad. The author also investigates 1) why Seoul does not do more to spread knowledge about its own experience of democratization 2) the challenges democracy is facing around the world; 3) problems facing democracy in South Korea; and 4) how other democracies support democracy.
