This paper reviews the results of a 2015 public opinion survey on how people in Japan and South Korea perceive one another and how this perception has changed since 2013. In general, the results show that a significant percentage of people in each country see the other in a negative light (72.5 in Korea and 52.4 in Japan) and that the number of those who have an unfavorable view of South Korea in Japan has increased since 2013. The authors examine 1) the negative views and the reasons behind them; and 2) variations in anti-Japanese sentiments in South Korea. They then look at how to improve relations between Japan and South Korea and the attitudes each country's citizens have towards the other.
