This note discusses the economic progress made by Morocco since the 1990s. The key arguments of the author include that 1) Morocco has weathered the fallout from the Arab Spring and stands out in North Africa in terms of its relative stability, levels of economic growth and liberalism; 2) a younger generation of entrepreneurs is developing companies in the country; 3) the country has achieved notable success in attracting major foreign investors; and 4) these positive economic trends are the direct result of economic liberalization and privatization reform. He also contends that despite the positive trends in Morocco's economy, the country still has much work to do - particularly in terms of helping domestic small and medium size enterprises, increasing overall education levels, and modernizing the state - to support continued growth and development.
