This paper discusses US-Russian cooperation in Central Asia and analyzes its impact on the economic development and security of the region. The author surveys the political and geo-strategic interests of the great powers and evaluates the stakes involved. The paper emphasizes the need to define a common agenda for Russia and the United States in Central Asia and assesses the prospects for institutionalized cooperation in the region.
