This publication discusses developments in the nuclear arsenals worldwide and in the US specifically. The author examines the nuclear weapons initiatives funded by the Bush administration, the request for a Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator (RNEP) and the consequences of a resumption of nuclear testing on key multilateral treaties. He concludes with the need to oppose any moves to deploy a new generation of nuclear weapons in order to maintain and strengthen the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
