This paper provides an overview of the fall 2001 anthrax attacks and the subsequent responses by US authorities. It examines the issues by chronologically assessing all the significant events associated with the anthrax attacks and the corresponding statements made by government officials, health and law enforcement specialists, as well as other individuals involved in responding to the attacks. The paper is based upon publicly available sources, including regional, national and international newspapers.
