This briefing paper evaluates why German public servants are not appropriately represented in many international organizations. Although Germany has, according to the author, enough high-quality undergraduate and post-graduate courses and internships to prepare young professionals for work in the development field, the country's public servants are still not sufficiently geared to occupational integration. The author suggests that training provided by schools and universities should be supported by early career guidance and that the existing governmental programs which assist young professionals should be expanded.
