This paper addresses the discussion about aspects of development aid in Africa as well as approaches to explaining existing development deficits such as "poverty traps" or classic structural deficits. Furthermore, it discusses the massive increase in the official development assistance and options to improve the quality and effectiveness of development assistance. The author states that the donors should increase good governance and avoid bad governance.
