The paper examines the extent to which the National Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs) called for in connection with the enhanced debt initiative is in line with the demand for gender equality and contain an integrated gender perspective. According to the author, there is largely no systematic inclusion of women's positions and measures aimed at improving the economic situation of women are largely limited to the provision of micro credit. The author therefore concludes that the bilateral donors sought to devote more effort to integrating cross-sectoral issues like promotion of gender equity.
