This paper discusses the ongoing power shift within the global economy to Asia and the challenge this represents for the United Nations. As possible solutions, it suggests two tracks concerning the ECOSOC and the G20 that need to be undertaken in order to enhance the effectiveness and legitimacy in global governance. The author shows possible ways to make those shifts happen and sees a crucial role for Germany and Canada in the reform process.
