This paper analyzes the relationship between development policy and other policies such as foreign policy, export and labor market interests. According to the author, the success of development policy partly depends on the effects of other policies that intentionally or unintentionally support, but also impair, development cooperation efforts. By providing many examples of incoherence, the author presents suggestions for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
