This briefing paper describes the relationship between the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). As some criticism of the DAC emerged from the German development cooperation community in the past, the BMZ tasked the DIE to undertake a study that considered important factors, including: the assessment and use of DAC results by the German aid system, Germany’s influence on the profile of the DAC’s work, the relevance of German criticism leveled at the DAC and recommendations for German development cooperation. The findings are presented in this paper.
