This paper discusses the issue of small-scale enterprises (SSEs) in developing countries, and their access to microcredits to finance their operations. Particular emphasis is given to SSEs in Sri Lanka, where the authors argue that there is a considerable gap between demand and supply in microfinance. The paper concludes by giving recommendations on how to improve the access of SSEs to credit.
