This study concentrates on private creditors who by lending to both private and public sector borrowers, help prevent and resolve debt crises. The approaches for resolving financial crises discussed here focus on possible means to gain the involvement of private creditors, most of which are private banks as well as private and institutional investors, such as pension funds and hedge funds. Chapter six presents recommendations for economic policy action geared toward both preventing and resolving debt crises.
