This report examines Vietnam's framework for foreign direct investment (FDI), focusing in particular on three industries: food processing, garments and electronics. It identifies six components of Vietnam's framework for FDI: the trade regime, the financial regime, legal regulations, taxation and investment incentives, institutional capability and physical infrastructure. The author focuses especially on the features reducing the country’s attractiveness, possible solutions and how international assistance could support Vietnam.
