This study provides an overview of the relations between development policy and the military in crises and post-conflict situations. It examines the views of the actors involved, and takes stock of development-military interfaces. The authors point to several examples to illustrate some of the positive and negative experiences that have been made with different interfaces, and to explain aspects of special relevance for development policy. Finally, the study outlines some of the strategic approaches and policy options open to development policy in its relationship to military actors.
