This report outlines the main insights gained from a Pacific Forum conference that brought together officials and experts from the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to explore the three countries’ thinking on 1) changes in relations with North Korea; 2) how to strengthen extended deterrence; 3) how trilateral security cooperation could be fortified, and more. The conference also outlines the insights gained from a two-move tabletop exercise (TTX) that dealt with radically different outcomes in the nuclear negotiations with Pyongyang.
