This article examines the influence of interest representation on incumbent behavior. It analyzes the effect of electoral donations in an environment with incomplete information in which politicians and pressure groups match ideologically. The author concludes that when an incumbent's policy preference is not known, an interest group that employs its resources to influence election outcomes can induce incumbents to select policies that differ from those that would be selected in the group's absence.
