This text assesses the size and sophistication of Chinese foreign investments, not only in oil and gas but increasingly in construction, telecommunications, nuclear power and high-technology. The article’s authors particularly explore 1) the political and security impacts these investments may have on host governments in North America and Europe; and 2) the Chinese Government’s attitude towards the growing reach of its corporations overseas.
