This briefing paper presents the contributions to the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on "Reconciling the requirements of contemporary operations with the needs of human security." The paper identifies what human security initiatives have already been taken within NATO and its member countries, assesses their effectiveness and identifies priorities for future action at policy, strategic and operational levels.
