This briefing paper draws attention to the mid-2007 security situation in Iraq. The author argues that there is an urgent need for realistic policy proposals for a UK withdrawal that do not simply abandon the Iraqi people to their fate. He concludes by calling for the development and implementation of a new Iraq strategy.
