This report analyzes independent media developments in Central and Eastern Europe. The author illustrates how media development promotes market-based democracy and examines the particular role of Central and East European journalist training centers in this phenomenon. The report further highlights several current models of sustainability for media training and provides suggestions for donors in Central and Eastern Europe and elsewhere.
