This study analyzes the competitive position of the Serbian economy and proposes various paths for its positive development. It also examines the main channels through which competition affects aggregate economic performance in Serbia. The study places a strong emphasis on microeconomic analysis as well as more traditional macroeconomic analysis. It argues that Serbia must strive for more competitive firms, products and sectors and to give the space for the propagation of product specialization if the country is to generate the exports over time necessary to sustain growth and development.
