This paper discusses the determining factors for defining the Armenian genocide. The author states that by setting forth such a definition, it may prove helpful beyond the scope of the Armenian case to generally elucidate some of the intricacies that are normally involved with the task of conceptualizing the issue of genocide. The paper explains that unlike most definitions of genocide, which mainly revolve around the issue of what genocide actually entails, the emphasis should be placed on those conditions in the configuration of which genocide is seen as materializing.
