This paper describes the efforts of the Cambodian Genocide Program (CGP) at the University of New South Wales to collect and conserve in multimedia format as much documentation on the Cambodian genocide as possible. The author details how the program launched investigations into both known and previously unknown sources of evidence and records to gather as much information as possible and prevent factual loss of documentation or future loss of memory. The paper describes how various factors including the continued presence and threat of the Khmer Rouge have demanded constant vigilance regarding staff and document security from the program as well as a high degree of responsiveness and sensitivity in making documentation results public with regard to respecting the memory of those killed and the privacy and integrity of the survivors.
