This analysis examines NATO's operations in Afghanistan and international cooperation in terms of state-building, post-conflict reconstruction and security provision. The authors describe their personal experiences as military commanders in Afghanistan and judge whether the operations were successful. In addition, some analysts outline key areas of concern in the development and political reconstruction of the country and provide policy advice for a more comprehensive approach to address the situation in Afghanistan.
