This volume focuses on the status of the Rohingya minority in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. It argues that three problems must be addressed if there is to be any progress in integrating the group into society at large: 1) the equating of national identity with being Buddhist-Burmese; 2) the current instability in Rakhine, which is attributable to armed Rohingya groups; and 3) the nature of local politics in Rakhine.
