This publication addresses the implications for peace and security of emerging technologies — such as machine learning, robotics, biotechnology, additive manufacturing, lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS) and others. Among other issues, the text’s author addresses 1) the need for the global community to broaden its focus as it addresses the implications of emerging technology, using the example of responses to LAWS; 2) the potential security implications of emerging technologies beyond armed conflict; 3) what strategy the international community can adopt regarding future policy dealing with emerging technologies, and more.
