This report examines Bangladesh’s established disaster management structures and the role of key actors engaged in disaster management in the country. A key focus of the report is on Bangladesh’s response to the displacement of the Rohingya ethnic minority group from Myanmar in 2017, a large number of whom crossed the border into Bangladeshi territory. In doing so, the authors also identify lessons learnt, highlighting factors that could impede effective disaster management and coordination during complex humanitarian emergencies in the future.
