The articles in this AJCR issue focus on the quest for reconciliation and justice in the wake violent conflicts in Africa. More specifically, the articles explore 1) a potential framework for resolving justice and reconciliation questions in Zimbabwe; 2) the unresolved legacy of Operation Gukurahundi, in which an estimated 20,000 Zimbabweans were killed by government forces in the early 1980s; 3) how to account for gender-based violence during mediations and what insights can be gained on this subject from peacemaking in West Africa; and 4) how the International Criminal Court’s investigation of armed conflict in Uganda has shaped the role of violence within the country.
