This brief assesses US-China relations and how they are likely to evolve under President-elect Donald Trump. The latter may indeed impose economic sanctions against Chinese export industries, but in most other respects Beijing may benefit from a neo-isolationist US administration that rejects 1) the US’ recent rebalancing to Asia; 2) the Trans-Pacific Partnership; and 3) strategic networks that aim to quarantine China.
