This text argues that President-elect Donald Trump is bad news for climate governance and the minimization of carbon emissions. It also observes that US obstinacy will not get very far with a determined world, and will most likely damage both the US’ global reputation and its economy. In the last case, it will be foolish of Trump to ignore technological advances in green energy generation and storage, and the increasingly apparent commercial opportunities presented by a transition away from fossil fuels.
