This paper examines the validity of using the "Blair doctrine" to justify the UK's participation in the Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. Instead of focusing exclusively on material interests to justify intervention, the Blair doctrine prioritizes human rights and the security of persons. The authors argue that Kosovo at best constitutes a flawed application of the doctrine for humanitarian intervention, and that Afghanistan and Iraq directly violate Prime Minister Tony Blair’s own criteria.
