Publication

Feb 2005

The publication provides a historical overview of nuclear disarmament treaties after the end of the Cold War and the genesis of the world's first nuclear weapons-free zone (NWFZ). It examines shared characteristics of nuclear-free zones and their present status in the 21st century. The brief concludes that the success of regional NWFZs should be expanded upon by other regions to achieve nuclear abolition.
