Mar 2005

The publication examines whether NATO’s nuclear-sharing arrangements constitutes a breach in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It focuses on the US interpretation of Articles I and II of the NPT and efforts to close a loophole in the Treaty. The brief also highlights developments since the 2000 Review Conference and prospects for progress, especially the withdrawal of US nuclear weapons from European territory.
