This paper examines humanitarian intervention through the lens of the 'Responsibility to Protect' (R2P) framework. The paper traces the concept's history from its post-Cold war origins to the UN World Summit of September 2005. The report closes with a discussion on the universal acceptance of the doctrine of humanitarian intervention and the international community's response to the war on terror and the conflict in Darfur.
