This policy brief analyzes the pre-election situation in Sierra Leone in July 2007. In particular, the authors examine the readiness of the nation to transit from one era to another and consolidate democracy. They also highlight the socio-economic and political challenges haunting the country, the level of preparedness for elections and the stakes involved, as well as possible scenarios during the elections and thereafter. The brief concludes with options for response to ensure peace and stability.
