This paper wonders whether growing tensions between Belarus and Russia will lead to a new crisis in Eastern Europe. The source of the troubles is familiar enough – i.e., Russia’s attempts to dampen President Lukashenko’s flirtations with the West. If things do spiral out of control, the resulting crisis would require a significantly higher level of preparedness, commitment and resources from the EU. But would it actually respond?
