This paper summarizes the results of a survey investigating Serbian attitudes towards defense. It concludes that the Serbian public considers internal threats more menacing than external ones, and that reform of the military is necessary considering events in the Balkans during the 1990s. The paper also discusses the issue of conscription, the link between economic capacity and military funding and the role of a professional army.
