This paper focuses on the energy consumption of information and communication (ICT) equipment, and looks at action being taken to reduce it. It also mentions the wider environmental impact of ICT and looks at the significant contributions that ICT can make to reduce emissions in other sectors. The paper states that the ICT sector is responsible for about 2 percent of global carbon dioxide emissions.
