This note looks at the causes and impact of migration of scientists and engineers (S&Es), focusing on the developing world, where they play a key role in tackling poverty reduction. It points out that global competition for scientists and engineers is rising as their role in economic development is increasingly recognized. Many countries are looking to S&Es from overseas to address skills gaps.
