This POSTnote examines the issues surrounding the sustainable management of existing and new forest in the UK and assesses the social and environmental significance of such efforts. The paper highlights existing international standards for sustainable management of forests and the evolution of priorities and policies in the UK. The paper briefly discusses the connection between climate change and sustainable management of forest resources.
