This paper examines the potential risks and opportunities for the provision of public water supply as respective EU Directives are implemented in England and Wales. It also addresses the proper implementation and planning of the Habitats Directive (1992) and the Water Framework Directive (2000) in striking the balance between water management and its effect on environment.
