This paper was submitted to the two Committees regarding the National Prosecuting Authority and South African Police Service (SAPS) Amendment Bills. The author argues that the two bills are not in the public interest and should be opposed by members of parliament. He discusses international legal precedents, accountability and equality before law. He also explores the potential impact of these bills on the culture and ethics of law enforcement personnel.
