What does the relative success of the far right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Germany’s 2017 Bundestag elections indicate about the impact of migrant crisis on European politics? What accounts for the marked decrease in migrant flows to Europe, particularly from the Middle East and Africa. And is the existing European response to migration an effective approach to global migration trends? This paper deals with these questions and more.
