This report assesses the potential of green technologies for use in military applications by small nations. More specifically, it does so by looking at 1) how such technologies –including camelina-derived biofuels, methanol-based fuel cells, hydrogen energy, hybrid electric drive and photovoltaic energy- have already been used by the US and European nations in defensive initiatives; 2) green technologies that have the potential us for defensive purposes in the future; and 3) how green technologies could affect the operations and organization of armed forces.
