This AJCR issue focuses on contemporary conceptions of conflict prevention, management and resolution in Africa. The individual articles focus on 1) a collective non-violent approach towards ending conflict in the Niger Delta region; 2) how the formal legal systems in Ethiopia and Kenya undermined traditional forms of conflict resolution concerning natural resources; 3) the use of music as a tool to prevent election violence in Nigeria; 4) African countries’ criticisms of the International Criminal Court and what viable alternatives these nations would have to replace the court; and 5) the African Union’s approaches to peacebuilding.
