Our Mentoring Program

Every year CSNOW also sets up a mentoring program, where newcomers are paired with members at ETH to facilitate their start at the university. The mentoring kick-off happens at the welcome-back apero at the start of every autumn semester, where existing members of CSNOW can also meet up after the summer. Be sure not to miss it!

CSNOW: What and Why?

CSNOW was founded in 1993 and is part of the Department of Computer Science.

The goal of the network is to abolish gender-based barriers and prejudices, and to create a study and work environment that is comfortable for all. CSNOW believes that in a society where computer science plays such a large role, it is essential that women* are able to actively contribute their ideas, goals and thoughts, and to actively help shape the society.

We do not exclusively consist of women* nor are we only there for women*. Since we are convinced that many discussions are only possible with all members of the department, our team and many of our events are open to everybody.

Our Events

Events and gatherings are continuously organized by CSNOW throughout the year. During these events, discussions on the representation of women* in the field are incentivized, the women* members of the department have the opportunity to reconvene and to get to know each other, and of course, we always have a lot of fun!

See our calendar and archived newsletters for current and past events!

What does Women* mean?

We use women* to emphasize that we understand the term to mean all people who self-identify as women, regardless of the gender assigned at birth. Further, at our events marked as for women*, all people other than cis men are welcome (women, trans, non-binary, agender, and other). Inclusive events and gender-appropriate language are important to us and we are always open to feedback on how we can improve.
