Konrad Schindler, Professor of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at ETH Zurich, has been named Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), effective 1 January 2026. The honour recognises his contributions to computer vision and artificial intelligence in photogrammetry and remote sensing. IEEE Fellow is the organisation’s highest grade and is awarded annually to only 0.1% of its members worldwide.
Since 1933, the Belgian Francqui Chairs aims to promote cooperation between universities and highlight academic excellence. This year, Frédéric Merkt, Professor of Physical Chemistry at D-CHAB has been invited to give the Francqui Chairs lecture series and conferences encouraging scientific exchange and fostering meetings between researchers.
As particle physicists envision the future of their discipline, one point is clear: there's much potential for exploration and discovery beyond the Standard Model.
