Programme

Sunday: Meet

On Sunday afternoon ETH Week starts with our opening event. After some words of welcome, you will be introduced to design thinking with an engaging plenary exercise. You will then meet your team members as well as your coach, who will have prepared some fun team-building activities for you. In the evening, an influential keynote speaker takes the stage during “Inspirational Night”, which is followed by a discussion and Q&A.

Monday: Experience

After getting a brief topic overview from some of our topic experts, you venture on a field trip. Each member of your group attends a different field trip so that your team can benefit from a variety of inputs. The field trips are very diverse and are all about meeting local stakeholders. You could, for example, visit a factory, company office, museum, art show, public institution, or take part in a workshop.

Back in Hönggerberg, you get the opportunity to share your experience with your teammates and start visualising topics and problems that have emerged from the visits. Monday ends with Critical Thinking Night, where a keynote speaker will share unique, critical, and provoking perspectives on the topic matters.

Tuesday: Funnel

Tuesday is all about input. After short presentations from several coveted topic experts, one of the highlights of the week awaits: the Knowledge Fair. 60+ experts from industry, academia and public policy will be happy to meet and engage with you at their fair stand.

Wednesday: Ideate

On Wednesday the programme starts shifting away from receiving input and more towards problem definition. You will sketch, collect feedback, research, test, and hopefully, arrive at a more refined problem statement by the end of the day.

In the evening, we leave Hönggerberg for our legendary Community Night, where you can get to know the participants from the other groups more closely.

Thursday: Test

The entire Thursday takes place in Hönggerberg. Groups build a prototype of the proposed solution, receive expert feedback on it, and start to develop the final pitch.

Friday: Communicate

The big day is here. After the last rehearsals on stage, the final presentations will (hopefully) wow the audience, which contains an expert jury that will deliver several awards at the closing ceremony. The ceremony is followed by dinner and an after-party, where we end ETH Week in style by dancing the night away!

Please note that the programme for the 2023 edition is subject to change. Location for most events is the HPH Building on Campus Hönggerberg.
